Quality & Inspection

Angebot anfordern

Quality control starts by identifying which product features are functionally important to the drive. Inspection scope should follow the catalogue reference, approved drawing and order-specific document requirements rather than a generic checklist applied to every pulley.

Dimensional control

Inspect the Features That Control Fit and Belt Position

Depending on the configuration, functional checks can include the bore or bush interface, axial hub position, working face width, flange condition and dimensions called out on the released drawing. Replacement projects benefit from preserving a measured reference to the machine belt line so the new pulley can be compared before installation.

If a specific tolerance, runout limit or inspection report is required, include it in the RFQ rather than assuming one universal value applies to the whole catalogue.

Order documentation

Define the Required Records Before Production

Material documents, dimensional records, marking and order-specific compliance documents are supplied according to the confirmed quotation scope. Buyers should state the required document type at RFQ stage, especially where the order will be released against an internal inspection plan or a controlled drawing revision.

Supplier qualification

SGS / TÜV Rheinland Documentation Is a Supplier-Review Resource

Third-party supplier audit and company-verification documentation supported by SGS / TÜV Rheinland can be provided for buyer review where applicable to the contracting entity. These materials support review of company identity, supplier profile and general manufacturing capability. They are not presented as product-specific certification, and the applicable legal entity and document scope should be confirmed for the order.

Before shipment

Keep Product, Drawing and Inspection Identity Aligned

Before shipment, keep the ordered model, drawing revision, quantity and any required inspection record connected. Where a requirement changes after quotation, update the controlled order information before production rather than relying on an email note that may be separated from the manufacturing record.

Dimensional inspection of precision pulley components

Inspect the Characteristics That Control Function

Quality planning begins with the product row or released drawing. Tooth family, working width, shaft interface, hub projection and flange arrangement should remain traceable to the ordered configuration. When a customer adds a special tolerance, runout limit, material requirement or inspection record, the order needs an explicit acceptance criterion rather than a general request for “precision.”

For replacement projects, measurements from a worn part are useful reference data but are not automatically nominal dimensions. Wear, corrosion and previous remachining can change what is measured. Where possible, compare field dimensions with the correct catalogue family and use the approved replacement drawing as the controlled manufacturing reference.

Documentation Scope Is Matched to the Order

Supplier-audit or company-verification documentation and product inspection records answer different questions. Third-party supplier review can support company due diligence where the document scope matches the contracting entity. It is not a substitute for an order-specific material document or inspection result. When a buyer needs product documents, those requirements should be stated at quotation so the applicable records can be planned and retained.

This distinction is particularly important on mixed-model and custom orders. Each controlled characteristic should remain linked to the correct model or drawing revision. A general certificate attached to the shipment should not be assumed to describe every dimension or material condition unless its scope clearly says so.

Useful Information to Put on an Inspection Requirement

Characteristic

State the actual dimension, runout, material or construction feature that matters.

Reference

Identify the catalogue row or drawing revision that controls the requirement.

Method

When method matters, state the datum or inspection approach expected by the project.

Record

Specify whether a measured report, material document or simple conformity record is needed.

Replacement Measurements Need Context

Measuring an old pulley is useful, but wear can change tooth edges, flange condition and diameters. Previous repairs may also have altered a bore or hub. Field measurements should therefore be stored with photographs and the observed condition of the part. When a matching catalogue family is found, compare the construction and dimensions before treating the old part as the nominal master.

Where a machine has a recurring tracking or runout complaint, record the installed condition before removal. An inspection of the new pulley alone cannot explain a problem caused by shaft, bearing or alignment conditions elsewhere in the drive.
